Confucius said:

“The man who chases two rabbits catches none.”

And, I agree.

But in materialistic world our focus gets pulled towards building the FOUR pillars of living The Good Life – wealth, health, love, and happiness.

So that’s not just two… but four rabbits, right? 

Well, not really.

There’s actually one super-major thing that’s above all the four pillars. And once you have that, everything else just… comes to you much easier.

Recently i came to know about a term “Atomic Use Case” coined by Alex Mehr, and what he says about getting things done is:

“You basically have to focus on one thing. And by doing that, everything else lines up. It’s kind of like dominoes. You just gotta push into one piece, and all the rest falls into place.”

So you’re probably still wondering… 

What’s this ONE major thing I recommend focusing on before even thinking about how to get more health, wealth, love or happiness?

It’s WISDOM.

Wisdom is the common sense you get from being curious and observant, and by trying new things without procrastinating or being afraid.

But the problem is – common sense isn’t very common anymore.

Jim Rome said it right:

“Formal education will make you a living, but self education can make you a fortune.”

It basically means this.

As we go through the average upbringing and the average school system, our curiosity is being killed. And it’s already happening when we are really young. How?

For example when our parents tell us not to ask too many questions and just to accept whatever they believe.

But here’s the huge problem. 

You have to stay curious to become wise!

That means understanding things like how to read people, how economics work, how to sell and be persuasive, how to speak to the public, how to market stuff, how to take advantage of trends like social media…

But the reality is… 

The knowledge just is not out there to easily achieve the four pillars of The Good Life.

You see how tricky it’s becoming to get to wisdom. Unfortunately, most people are not wise. They don’t take the time and their curiosity has been killed. 

Here’s what happens to people who lack curiosity – and wisdom.

They make a lot of money and then lose everything.

Just think about why the average person who wins the lottery is broke again 5 or 6 years later.

To do well in this life, you need to have the right practical knowledge. 

For example, you need to know when is the right time to be open minded and when to rather stay cynical.

Sometimes it is smart to be cynical.

But other times, cynicism closes the doors to great opportunities. 

That’s why wisdom and common sense are so important.

Just know that we all are sometimes wise and other times foolish and that’s ok. The goal is not to always be 100% wise, but to outnumber our foolish days by our wise days.

Once you can achieve that ratio, there’s a reward waiting for you. 

Because at the end of the day, your ability to get the four pillars of The Good Life – health, wealth, love, and happiness….

Comes from a single-minded focus on WISDOM.

And while common sense is no more common at all…
